Students from various Higher secondary schools/colleges have started to protest regarding the move of Higher Secondary Education Board´s (HSEB) to monitor students´ uniform and make it mandatory in all educational institutions.
Students from St. Xavier´s College Maitighar, St. Mary´s College Jwalakhel, Namuna Machhindra campus, Softwarica college and Kathmandu University staged a protest in front of HSEB office at Sanothimi, Bhaktapur on Tuesday saying that HSEB is trying to divert people´s attention from its corrupt activities by raising baseless issues.
Instead students have urged the officials to implement code of conduct regarding enforcement of admission charge, monthly fee and examination fee as set by the board.
HSEB spokesperson Narayan Koirala claimed that the dress code in schools and colleges must be followed strictly to discourage the trend of bunking classes and riding bikes by students. Similarly, the officials had also directed the St. Xavier´s College to set dress code for students.
According to HSEB code of conduct, all higher secondary schools and plus two colleges have made it mandatory for the students to follow dress code.
