Nepal Engineering College (nec), Department of Architecture, as a response to “Sustainable Tourism and Green Growth of Heritage Settlements of Kathmandu Valley”, participated jointly with CIUD (Center for Integrated Urban Development), UN-Habitat, Sabah Nepal, Lumanti Support Group for Shelter and BARDeC has conducted “7 Days Municipal Drawing Camp” (held from October 17-23, 2019) at Bungamati.
The main objective of the camp was to create awareness on need and importance of municipal drawings and its approval procedures, with focus on preparing municipal drawing at site for community members interested to rebuild their houses traditionally in the heritage area.
Being first of its kind in the history of Nepal 21 students of architecture (20 students from 2015-Batch and 1 student from 2014-Batch) along with Associate Professor Nhasala Sayami and Assistant Professor Shyam Sunder Kawan as mentors had a privilege to volunteer the event. It was an exemplary privilege to the students for being a part of this camp and an opportunity for having in-site experience to deal with the different communities within the 2015 great earthquake affected historic settlement.
