Department of Education (DoE) has said that the Private and Boarding School s' Organisation (Pabson) has no authority to increase the tuition charges without the government consent.
DoE Director Tek Narayan Pandey said on Friday that Pabson cannot take unilateral decison to raise the tuition, noting that it was the duty of the District Education Coordination Committee to make such a decision after a thorough assessment has been conducted.
The recently concluded 12th general convention of Pabson, an umbrella organisation of private schools in the country, had announced to raise the tuition fee by 18 percent from the new academic session to adjust its increased expenditures in teachers' salary and other operations.
