PSC had on May 29 called for applications to 9,161 positions in the 515 local levels. Spokesman Sharma said revenue of Rs 140 million 411 thousand 150 has been collected from the registration of the applications.

PSC says the written test for filling up the vacant posts in the local levels would be conducted in the third week of July.

Indigenous nationalities and other groups had filed a case at the Supreme Court challenging the constitutionality of the PSC's vacancy announcement and sought a stay order on the grounds that it was not according to the constitution's spirit of the proportional inclusion.

However, the apex court after conducting hearing on the case last Monday ordered the PSC to go ahead with the tests.
