Nick Simons award to senior Assistant Health Worker Shyam Sundar Pokharel



Kathmandu- The Nick Simons Award for 2017 has been awarded to senior Assistant Health Worker Shyam Sundar Pokharel. Based at the Gulmi Pallikota Health Post, AHW Pokharel was honored for his contribution to the improvement of health services in the rural areas of the country. 

 A total of 33 health workers from 18 districts had been recommended for the prize. The prize founded by Jim Simons and Marlene Simons in the memory of their late son Nick carries a purse of Rs. 100,000.  Health Secretary Dr Puspa Chaudhary, Jim and Marlene jointly presented the prize at the 9th rural health workers conference that began in the capital on Tuesday. 

A total of 99 health workers from 54 districts are taking part in the three-day conference organized with the objective of addressing the problems facing the health workers working in the rural parts of the country.
