Himalaya Secondary School of Simjung, Gorkha had been in very debilitated condition since the earthquake damaged the school very badly. In lack of reconstruction, school had been facing difficulty in operation and management. Lions Club Nepal has built the 16 roomed building of the school.
The work costs about 2 crores and 26 lacs which was all ventured by the Lions Club for the school. The new building of school was inaugrated by the Chief of Army Rajendra Chhetri and the first vice-chairman of International Lions Club Gudraw Jort Yangvardot. Chief Chhettri advised the students on being the responsible citizens of the country in the future.
Also, Chhetri committed to help the school by donating laptops and multimedia projector form the personal expenses. Lions Nepal was sent an amount of 50 crores for the reconstruction and building. Himalayan School is first to be built in the process of building some 16 earthquake damaged schools in 14 districts of the country.
District governor Dhanraj Acharya, provincial assembly member Prakash Chandra Dawadi , chairman of Lions Club of Multiple Council Balkrishna Burlakoti, international director Sanjay Khetan, coordinator of the reconstruction committee Giridhari Sharma had spoken and expressed their wishes for the school.
The principal of the school Indra Prasad Mishra has expressed the need of 22 rooms for the school. He asked for further help from the concerned parties to build remaining rooms in the school.
