PANCHTHAR: Rajesh Tumbapo Memorial Library, established by Tumbapo Social Workers Association in Phidim Municipality-4 of Panchthar, has been inaugurated and handed over today.

The Chokmagu-based library situated in Saraswati Secondary School has been established with the help of funds collected from the Association after Rajesh Tumbapo of Phidim-5, who had been to South Korea for employment, got into an industrial accident and died five months ago.

The inauguration ceremony, which took place with the coordinated efforts of Tumbapo Social Workers Association South Korea leg and Nepal-based Central Committee, saw Chief Officer at Phidim Municipality-5 Lila Raj Tumbapo inaugurating and handing over the keys to Principal Bashu Dev Dhungana.

Speaking at the ceremony, Tumbapo mentioned that nothing enlightens people the way books do.

Deputy Chief at Panchthar District Office Nirmal Tumrok, Treasurer at Tumbapo Social Workers Union Nabin Tumbapo and local social worker Damodar Dhungel also shed light on the importance of establishing the library.

Out of Rs 621,000 collected by South Korea-based Tumbapo workers in the name of Late Rajesh Tumbapo, Rs 221,000 was channelled into constructing the library, informed Joint Secretary at South Korea branch, Shree Tumbapo.

The newly-built library is home to books from various genres such as history, geography, education, literature among others.

With current generation being engrossed into the social media and immensely cutting down the book reading habit, preparations to operate the library in beneficial ways are underway, informed Principal Dhungana.
