Different community schools in Lalitpur district have started teaching in English medium as the craze of the English language in Nepali society was increasing of late. Around one and half dozen schools in the district have challenged the private schools by running classes in the English medium.

Shringeri Secondary School, Lamatar, started teaching in English medium for few years ago and the students attended the SLC exams in the English medium and proved their excellence by passing all students in the first division last year. "We have started classes in the English medium as the students and parents suggested doing so," said school headmaster, Madhav Chand.

Teaching in English medium in community schools was a challenging job due to lack of teachers’ command over the English language, said Ram Kaji Bista, principal of Shree Krishna Higher Secondary School, Dhapakhel. "We have hired some 'fresh' teachers to start English medium classes," said Bista.
