Kantipur City College has established the KCC Journalism Award

Kantipur City College has established the ‘KCC Journalism Award’ which will be given annually to two working Nepali journalists. The award will carry a purse of Rs 25,000 along with a certificate for each.

Principal of the college, Prahlad Karki announced the award at a one-day seminar on ‘Information for Nation-Building: Quality Media Education for Quality Information,’ organised by the college in Kathmandu on Saturday.

According to Karki, the college has allocated a revolving fund of Rs five lakh for that and it will be given away at the end of the year according to Nepali calendar.

The pogramme was inaugurated by Vice Chancellor of the Purbanchal University Professor Dr. Maheshwor Man Shrestha on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Masters in Arts: Mass Communication and Journalism (MAMCJ) Program on Saturday in Kathmandu.

On the occasion, media professionals, lecturers and experts opined that media can contribute a lot especially in the current transitional phase of the country.

They stressed on the need of responsible and ethical practice in the field of journalism.

They had also expressed their views on various topics including Information for Nation-Building: Role of Mass Communication and Journalism graduates, Role of media-disseminated information in institutionalizing changes and Relevancy of media education for media entrepreneurship and media houses: information needs of the nation.

In the programme VC Shrestha had also felicitated the ace students from 1st to 7th batch with medals and certificates.

Similarly, Professors, lecturers and teacher were also felicitated for their contribution to the MAMCJ program.

Various distinguished media professionals and media entrepreneurs had taken part in the programme along with the concerned students.
