A well equipped information center has been planned to be constructed on the premises of Tribhuvan University's Institute of Engineering (IoE), Pulchowk.
The government of South Korea will provide Rs. 400 million to build the IT centre. Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) has taken responsibility to construct the center.
Inaugurating the programme amidst a function here on Friday, Minister for Education Ganga Lal Tuladhar said the center will be a milestone for the development of information technology in the country.
During the programme, Minister for Education Tuladhar said the government's main task is to write the new constitution and take the peace process to a logical conclusion. He stressed the need for bringing revolutionary change in the education sector by ensuring technical and quality education.
On the occasion, TU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Madhav Prasad Sharma said the information center will play a vital role to produce capable technical human power in the country.
Dean of IoE Bharat Pahadi said capable human power can develop information technology in the nation and expressed hope that the center will play important role to guide the education system to the right tract.
KOICA's Vice-Chairman Ahn Dong-won said the IT center will create awareness about IT in the society and be fruitful to produce capable human power.
The five-storey building will be constructed at 3,000 square meters at the Campus premises within the next 20 months to establish the center.
There will be 10 faculty rooms, five modern computer lab, systems to regulate mechanical divices automatically, three modern conference halls, and Korean language center with 50 seats in the center, said project management Co-coordinator Rajendra Shrestha.
