International Sanskrit Seminar concludes

Kathmandu, March 21 (RSS): The International Sanskrit Seminar concluded here on Thursday issuing a seven-point declaration including the establishment of a Nepal-India Sanskrit study centre and promotion of yoga and Ayurveda at both countries' initiatives. 

The declaration has emphasised an exchange of Sanskrit literature between the two countries, of Sanskrit professors and students and formation of a joint taskforce having scholars of both the countries as members. 
Speaking at the concluding ceremony, Dr Jagman Gurung, Vice Chancellor of the Nepal Academy and Prof Dr Benimadhav Dhakal, chairperson of the Service Commission of the Nepal Sanskrit University (NSU) emphasised the value and importance of Sanskrit. 

Likewise, other speakers, Prof. Dr Abiraj Rajendra Mishra, former Chancellor of Sampurnanand Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya, India and Prof Bidur Prasad Poudel, NSU's former Chancellor expressed their belief that the seminar would help in the development and progress of Sanskrit. 

Organised jointly by the Ministry of Culture, India, Indian Embassy and the Vivekananda Cultural Centre, the three-day seminar was attended by more than 500 Sanskrit scholars from both Nepal and India. A total of 50 working papers were presented as well.
