Indian assistance of Nrs. 50 Million provided to Parsa Schools

During his visit to Parsa District on 20th December 2012, Ambassador Jayant Prasad, inaugurated the newly constructed school buildings for Shree Dwardevi Secondary School and Shree Sharda Secondary School in Parsa District, which have been built with India’s assistance under the Nepal–India Economic Cooperation Programme.

At a well-attended function, Ambassador of India first inaugurated the newly constructed school building for Shree Dwardevi Secondary School at Alau VDC. Established in 1952 as a Lower Secondary School and subsequently upgraded as Secondary level in 1996, it is one of the oldest Government recognised schools in Parsa District. The new school building constructed with Indian assistance of NRs. 27 million will help in the creation of better facilities for over 1100 students, about 46% of whom are girls. This is expected to assist students in the pursuit of their study programme and raise enrolment in the school.
 
At another function, Ambassador inaugurated a new school building for Shree Sharda Secondary School. Established in 1956 as a Primary School and subsequently upgraded as Secondary level in 1975, it is located at Bahuwari-Sugauli VDC in Parsa District. The new building, built with assistance of NRs. 23 million, will provide much needed classroom space, create an improved learning environment and contribute to the development of education in the district. 

India is currently executing five development projects in Parsa District with grant assistance of NRs. 96.2 million, while two projects have already been completed at a cost of NRs. 20.2 million.  Fourteen ambulances and three school buses have also been gifted for use in Parsa District.  

In his address, Ambassador of India underlined the importance of the Nepal–India Economic Cooperation Programme as a cornerstone of the development partnership between the two countries. He expressed the hope that the various projects being implemented under the programme will help the people of Nepal in their strides towards peace and prosperity.
    
Recognizing the importance of accelerating growth in Nepal, India remains committed to rendering all possible assistance in that direction. The India – Nepal Economic Programme has an outlay of over NRs. 64 billion with more than 425 large and small development projects completed or currently being implemented in almost all the districts of Nepal. These development projects mainly in the sectors of education, health and infrastructure development have been undertaken in response to local needs, and in partnership with the Government of Nepal.
