TAHARI: A technical institute has put the future of five dozen students in peril.
Two years ago, the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) directed the Itahari-4-based Trishakti Technical Institute not to run Lab Assistant classes, citing the lack of infrastructure and facilities. But this did not stop institute owner Mrigendra Prasad Yadav from running the programme. Barred from the CTEVT exams, irate students of the institute and their guardians picketed the institute.
As Yadav was not in the institute, the students took his wife to Sanju to the Itahari Area Police Office, which subsequently released the latter as she pledged to show up at the station along with her husband tomorrow. Sita Dulal, a guardian, said, “The exams were supposed to take place five months ago.”
According to a source, authorities had barred 38 Lab Assistant students from final exams last year. Despite this, proprietor Yadav enrolled 22 students.
Sanju put the blame on the CTEVT saying it had barred the students from the exams. The agitating students also padlocked the Itahari-4-based regional CTEVT office today. Shiva Dahal, acting chief of the CTEVT Eastern Region Office, said the office had spiked the institute’s Lab Assistant programme.
