Idea of skills development Bank floated



Kathmandu, Oct 29 (RSS): The high-level task force constituted to make recommendations on future policy and institutional structure relating to technical and vocational education and training submitted its report on Wednesday. The report was handed over to Minister for Education, Science and Technology Giriraj Mani Pokharel. 

The task force led by Prof. Dr Pramod Bahadur Shrestha comprised Prof Dr Tanka Nath Sharma, Dr Sunil Babu Shrestha, Prof Dr Rajendra Prasad Adhikari, Joint Secretarry at the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology Dr Hari Lamsal and Dr Mukunda Mani Khanal as Member-Secretary. 

The report of the task force envisions socio-economic transformation by providing employment to the youths by bringing them to the mainstream of national development through quality technical and vocational skills-oriented training carried out by a coordinated structure of the federal, provincial and local governments. It also emphasizes on production of skilled and productive human resources for attaining the country’s goal of upgrading itself to a mid-income state. 

It has also suggested forming provincial technical and vocational education and skills development assembly and council. It has introduced the concept of a skills developmet bank, pre-knowledge testing system, industrial trainee programme and national labour market information system.
