KATHMANDU: The government has unveiled a new concept of establishing public schools in co-operative model that will be declared a ‘strike-free’ zone.

The programmes of the government, which will be presented in the parliament tomorrow, includes some other schemes such as linking the literacy campaign with the ‘one village, one product’ programme to impart technical knowledge to students.

The schools in co-operative model will be set up as pilot project in some districts and they will be financed by the government, managed by the community and the schools take the responsibility for the results, sources said.

The lapses in the allocated budget will be tracked by a survey named ‘public expenditure tracking system’ so that investment will be made transparent.

The ‘talent hunt scheme’ is another programme aimed at marginalised and backward communities to increase their access to education and pave the way for their better life.

Establishing a teachers’ bank and roster of teachers for teachers management are some other government programmes in the list of programmes forwarded by the Ministry of Education.

Likewise, for the implementation of School Sector Reform Plan, the amendment to the Education Act 1971 will be made and Higher Education Bill 2067 will be presented in the the parliament to streamline higher education institutions and universities.
