Government committed to educational development: PM KP Sharma Oli



Pokhara, July 19 (RSS): Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that the government was committed to developing the education sector in the country.

Speaking at the 19th annual general meeting of Pokhara University, in capacity of the Chancellor of the University here today, he said his only goal was to change the face of the nation through good governance, and the medium for it was education. The university should be taken ahead as a centre of producing skills human resources, he added.

Lauding the emphasis laid by the university to technical education, the Prime Minister said the university should follow the national education policy. 

Vice-chancellor Prof Chiranjibi Prasad Sharma said the graduates from the university were making a significant contribution to the development of inclusive, just and quality education system.

He said the University will initiate joint constituent college and programme as per the government policy in coordination with each state. He further said that the target of current 29,425 students of the university will be doubled within two years.

According to University's Information Officer Lok Prasad Dhakal, the general meeting has also endorsed the policy on Pokhara University's joint constituent high school, educational institute and joint constituent programme operation-2075 and its regulation 2075 BS.

The assembly has also endorsed a total budget of Rs 862.9 for the fiscal 2075-76 BS.
