Kathmandu, Nov 2 (RSS): The National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) is to depute at least one engineer at each Ward of the local level in the 14 earthquake hard-hit districts.
The 89th executive committee meeting of the NRA convened by its chief executive officer Yubaraj Bhusal on Thursday decided to depute at least one technician each from among the engineers, sub-engineers and overseers already deputed to the districts or in the process of being deputed from the NRA, the Ministry of Urban Development, Central Project Implementation Unit, for the reconstruction of private homes, at every Ward of the local levels in the 14 earthquake hardest-hit districts.
However, the NRA has decided to depute technicians to 17 other less-affected districts in numbers that would be adequate for the reconstruction of private houses on the basis of the number of beneficiaries, and to expedite the reconstruction works.
NRA spokesman Yam Lal Bhusal said the meeting also decided to hold discussions on Friday with the elected people's representatives, the related ministries, departments, Nepal Rastra Bank and Bankers Association, among other stakeholder institutions, aimed at identifying the problems seen in the reconstruction, exploring the ways of addressing the problems and formulating the procedure for partnership for reconstruction at the local level.
The decisions to this effect have been taken by the meeting of the executive committee after the earthquake victims who have reconstructed their houses and those aspiring to rebuild their houses complained of facing problems as they could not get technicians in their locality for house construction, the NRA stated.
