Educationalist Sitaram Maskey passes away at 67



Kathmandu, Oct 27 (RSS): Educationist Sitaram Maskey has died on Saturday. He was 67. Maskey, who was suffering from brain hemorrhage, died at 3:30 pm at the Maitighar-based Annapurna Neuro Hospital where he was admitted a month ago, said President of Nepal Teachers' Federation Baburam Thapa. 

Maskey's body will be kept at the central office of the Communist Party of Nepal at Dhumrabarahi for the last rite, said Thapa. His last rites would be performed on Monday after Maskey’s two sons living in the United States of America arrive in Nepal. Born in Terhathum district, Maskey, also a cadre of the ruling Communist Party of Nepal, served as the founding treasurer of the Nepal National Teachers' Association. 

He also served as Vice President of National Sports Council and General Secretary of the Private and Boarding Schools Organisation Nepal (PABSON). He is survived by a wife and three sons. 
Meanwhile, Chairperson of the CPN and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli expressed sorrow over the demise of Maskey. PM Oli took to Twitter, and paid tributes to Maskey and extended condolence to the bereaved family.
