Pokhara, April 3 (RSS): Minister for Education, Science and Technology Giriraj Mani Pokharel on Wednesday said education onwards should not be a licence for an abroad ticket. "Migration of a country's human resource in search of job opportunities outside the country will be a hindrance to development and prosperity of the country," he said addressing the 16th convocation ceremony of Pokhara University here.

Pointing out education as an invaluable property, gems and ornaments for human beings, he stressed the need to use educational institutions imparting theoretical and practical knowledge as a platform to make humans civilized, qualified and intellectual.

An educational policy would be in place which would address the problems of the current educational system, he said, also calling for ending the trend of strikes and protests taking place in the name of education.

On the occasion, a total of 5,528 graduates from various streams under the university were granted certificates. Sushil Timilsena and Dibya Jyoti Pandit, who scored highest marks under master's degree progrmme, were honoured with 'the chancellor award' each. Timilsena top-scored under the science and technology faculty, while Pandit in the management stream.

Likewise, Prasina Ghising was awarded 'the vice chancellor award' for highest-scoring under bachelor's degree programme under the management faculty.
