Education Minister Pokharel asks student unions to withdraw educational strike



Kathmandu: Minister for Education, Science and Technology Giriraj Mani Pokharel has urged protesting student unions to withdraw their educational strike scheduled for July 4-6. 

Pokharel held talks with them at former's official residence in Harihar Bhavan, Lalitpur on Saturday in an effort to end the protest. 

During the meeting, the Minister directed Ministry Secretary Khagraj Baral to do homework in this regard, said Chairperson of the All Nepal National Independent Students Union (Revolutionary), the student wing of former CPN (Maoist Centre). 

Various students unions including Netra Bikram Chand-led Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) aligned All Nepal Independent Students' Union-Revolutionary, Socialist Students Union, All Nepal National Independent Student Union-Revolutionary close to Mohan Baidya-led CPN-Maoist have taken to the streets, protesting educational anomalies and high fee imposed on students.
