KATHMANDU: Minister for Education Dinanath Sharma has opined that change in educational policy was inevitable as country's educational sector was turning into a factory to produce unemployed persons.
Addressing a program on the occasion of the seventh convention of the Education Journalists' Group in the capital on Friday, Minister Sharma said the Education Ministry was mulling to change the education policy soon.
Though 50,000 plus graduates of Faculty of Education were unemployed, situation would not exist any longer adding, "Educational sector is in need drastic changes and the expected results will not be achieved just by slight changes in the Education Act 1972."
Secretary at the Ministry Kishore Thapa stressed on the need of changes in education policy with the change in political situation. He urged the educationalists and journalists to help formulate scientific examinations system.
On the occasion, Vice-chancellor of the Tribhuvan University, Prof. Dr. Hira Bahadur Maharjan, Director General of the Department of Education Mahashram Sharma and educationist Dr Mana Prasad Wagle, among others expressed their opinions regarding the problems in country's education sector.
Group's chair Prakash Silwal said that commercialisation in the education sector has also brought about many malpractices in this sector.
