Lawmakers have drawn attention of the government to make health and education accessible to the people of remote areas.

At a meeting of Directive, Principles and Responsibilities of the State of the Constitution Implementation and Monitoring Committee held on Sunday, they demanded to bring the programme in order to make the education and health accessible to all as it is fundamental rights of the people.

They complained over declining condition of educational quality of community schools and government's failure to provide basic health service in remote areas.

Radhe Shyam Adhikari, Anil Kumar Jha, Ganesh Singh Thagunna, Kali Bahadur Malla, Laxmi Pariyar and Hariram Lakhan Chaudhary had expressed their views on the occasion.

The Committee held discussion with members of the National Planning Commission regarding NPC's further policy over the issue of education and health.

NPC member Usha Jha said that different programmes including the target of making education qualitative and technology-friendly and making health service accessible to all have been incorporated in the foundation paper of the 15th plan.

Thirteen strategic plans have been made with the aim of providing all types of health services and of developing human resources for transforming education socially and economically, she said.

Likewise, chief of the Good Governance and Social Development Division under the Commission, Kiran Rupakheti said goals have been adopted under the 15th planning to provide quality services related to fundamental facilities like education and health to the people.

The committee discussed ways and future strategies for ensuring services related to education and health in a feasible way, and in correcting shortcomings (if any) in this regard, said president of the committee, Nira Devi Jairu.

Suggestions to this regard would be provided after discussing with concerned stakeholders, she said.
