BHAKTAPUR: The Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) is set to take action against those nursing colleges found taking tuition fees higher than the fees rate fixed by the Council.

Earlier, the CTEVT board meeting had issued a circular to all the nursing colleges having its affiliations, asking not to charge fees higher than the rate determined by the Council, said CTEVT Administration Chief Ramesh Poudel.

Affiliation of those colleges found raising higher fees shall be canceled immediately, he said, adding that those colleges which collect higher fees than the existing rate during the enrollment has to adjust the fees in the second year or return the additional amount, he said.

As per the recommendation of the high-level fees fixation and monitoring committee, the CTEVT-affiliated nursing colleges have to charge around Rs. 396,360 for the proficiency certificate level, Rs. 281,656 for the Diploma in Pharmacy programme and Rs. 346,923 for General Medicine programme under the Proficiency Certificate level.

The Council has directed all its affiliated colleges to implement the Committee's recommendations from this academic session, it is learnt.

Similarly, as per the decision made by the meeting, the colleges have to acquire permission from the CTEVT if they feel the need to increase the fees.

Prior to this, many nursing colleges affiliated with the CTEVT were taking tuition fees up to Rs. 500,000 from each student.
