Council for technical education and vocational Training (CTEVT) has increase the fee of nursing studies by 20%
Earlier, it used to cost Rs. 396,000to study the three year proficiency certificate level Nursing course from CTEVT affiliated colleges. However, from the new academic session, the fees will be dearer by Rs. 80,000, with students paying Rs. 479,000 to complete the PCL nursing course.
Ramhari Lamichanne , member secretary at CTEVT , today said they had increased the nursing fees after four years . he said “ we had not increased the nursing fees since the past four years so the current 20 % increment is equivalent to five percent annual increment .
Earlier, the government had formed a committee under the coordination of Hari Lamsal , joint- secretary , Ministry of Education , to study increment in fee structure . The committee had submitted a report to CTEVT a month ago.
Lamsal said “we have recommended the CTEVT increased the fee structure by 5 % every year.” He further said they have also asked CTEVT to regularly monitor the physical infrastructure and facilities provided to the students.
Suparbhat Bhandari , president , Guardians Associate of Nepal (GAN) , said increasing the fee structure without consultation with the concerned stakeholders was not appropriate . He said the government should strictly regulate nursing colleges rather than permitting them to increase the fee structure.
