The Government of China is sending around 100 volunteer teachers in the current fiscal year to various schools of Nepal.

A bilateral agreement to this end was signed today to formalise the ongoing teaching of Chinese language at different schools.

In presence of Minister for Education Chitra Lekha Yadav, Education Secretary Biswa Prakash Pandit and Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Wu Chuntai signed the agreement to this end at the Ministry of Education today.

The volunteer teachers will be mobilised in both community and institutional schools based on demand and it shall not cost any financial burden on Nepal, said spokesperson at the Ministry Hari Lamsal.

Formal education of Chinese language is currently available only at the Bishwa Bhasa Campus under the Tribhuvan University.

Speaking at the function, Education Minister Yadav expressed the confidence that the agreement would help further expand the historical and close relations between the two countries, and thereby contribute to the education sector of Nepal.

Chinese Ambassador Chuntai said the agreement to provide volunteer teachers to Nepal is a testimony of the close friendship enjoyed by the two countries.
