The School Leaving Certificate (SLC) Exam is starting from Chaitra 18. Unlike, previous years SLC examination, from this year students will receive grading not marks. The SLC exam grading ranges from A plus to N.
As per the decision taken by the Secondary Education Pass Examination Committee, chance exam will be conducted for students receiving ‘D’ or lower grades in not more than two subjects in the SLC examinations. This will help them pursue higher studies without having to waste an entire academic year.
It further said that students who receive ‘D’ or lower grades in more than three subjects will have to sit tests for all subjects the following year.
The National Curriculum Development and Evaluation Council, which approved the letter grading system for SLC examinations, has also decided to gradually implement the system in other levels and classes.
The government had decided to implement letter grading system in SLC exam on December 10. As per the decision, there will be nine grades A+, A, B+, B, C+, C, D, E and N under the letter grading system.
