Budget set aside for marriage used for scholarship

Palpa, March 2 (RSS): A family here has avoided spending unnecessarily in a marriage to instead utilize the amount to set up a revolving fund in a school.

The Ghimire family from Rampur in Palpa has established a fund of Rs. 111,111 at the Janabikas Secondary School. Tanka Nath Ghimire of Rajghara in Rampur municipality-3 deducted funds meant for the marriage of his son Pursottam for a noble cause.

"We decided to use the money for the marriage feast to help the academic sector, against the increasing social trend of high spending in marriage function," Ghimire said. Proceeds from the fund will be used to provide scholarship to students from the poor and underprivileged communities.
This exemplary initiative by the Ghimire family could serve as an inspiration for many others, said the school's Head Teacher Hari Prasad Ghimire.
