Classes for Agriculture science has begun at the Mangala secondary school in Babiyachaur of Mangala rural municipality. The subject is being taught from Grade 9 to 12 with technical support of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, according to the programme coordinator Humanath Pandey.
Among the quota for 48 students, 45 students have enrolled for the programme. Of them 23 are female and 22 male students.
Under the course for 1010 full marks, four are general subjects and six are subjects related to agriculture science. This includes among others computer application, agronomy, horticulture, soil and plant protection, said assistant trainer Sandip KC at the school.
The new subject has been adopted as per the government's policy to produce skilled human resources for the agriculture sector and create self-employment opportunities at the local level.
