Agitating student unions withdraw protest



Kathmandu, May 5 (RSS): The student unions have withdrawn their protest programmes after reaching a five-point deal today.  The meeting was held at the Ministry of Education in the capital. 

Nine student unions affiliated to various political parties have been on agitation demanding that private schools which have hiked educational fee for the new academic session should withdraw the decision. 
The agreement was reached among the Ministry of Education, students unions, private schools operates and representatives guardians and local bodies of Kathmandu Metropolis. 

One of the points of the agreement was to implement 'community school fee directive-2072 BS' and withdraw the recent decision to hike fees. 

Other points of the agreement are to make the scholarship to be provided by the private schools to the eligible students transparent and strictly prohibit the sales of books, stationery materials and bags on the school premises. 

According to Deputy Director of Education Department at the Ministry Bal Bahadur Karki, the protests programmes have been withdrawn by student unions after entering into the agreement.
