Nepal Economics Olympiad 2020 is organized by Young Economics Society Nepal. It will be hosted by Ullens School. The event will take place in two phases: regional selection and national competition. The registration for regional selection is open for Nepal Economics Olympiad 2020 until February 1, 2020. After the regional selection, the main event will be taking place from February 14-16, 2020 (Falgun 2-4, 2076).

Nepal Economics Olympiad is an annual competition in economics and invites students from different provinces to improve the students problem solving ability and challenges them to think analytically. The main event will have prominent speakers: H.E. Dr. Yuba Raj Khatiwada, Dr. Chiranjibi Nepal, Prof.Dr. Pushpa Raj Kandel, Dr. Rajan Khanal, Dr. Biswo Paudel, Dr. Swornim Wagle, Mr. Bhuvan Kumar Dahal, and Mr. Anil Keshari Shah. The trainers will be Dr. Gunakar Bhatta, Mr. Narottam Aryal, and Mr. Abhishek Maskey. The mentors will be Mr. Binary Devkota, Mr. Bibhusan Bista, Mr. Amit Agrawal, Mr. Sixit Bhatta, Mr. Bahar Kumar and Mrs. Faija Parween.

The regional selection phase will take place in different cities of the country and the top students will be selected for the national competition that will take place in Kathmandu.The list of cities with their respective provinces where the regional selection process of Nepal Economics Olympiad will be held are:


Eligibility Criteria for Participation:

  • Participants must be less than 20 years before 30 June of the year of participation.
  • Participants must be working towards receiving a high-school diploma or similar degree on 1 December of the year before the year of participation.

How to Participate:

For Individual

  • Individual qualifying the eligibility criteria mentioned above can fill the registration form on the website or Facebook page of the Nepal Economics Olympiad.
  • The registration charge is NRS 500 which can be paid to any of the accounts as mentioned.
  • Any individual interested in NEO who is not selected by the college or whose college isn’t participating can participate in the event by filling the forms.

For College

  • The representative from college can find the registration form on the website or Facebook page of the Nepal Economics Olympiad.
  • The registration charge is Nrs.5000 which can be paid to any of the accounts as mentioned
  • College can send a group consisting of a maximum of 6 students from the college.
  • The college can also contact the NEO team for the registration process.

About the Organization:

Young Economist Society Nepal is a non-profit organization that is established to provide young and aspiring economics students to showcase their talents. It is an authorized institution recognized by the International Economics Olympiad for the selection of talents in the field of economics within the country and facilitating them to represent the country in the International Economics Olympiad annually. 

Its mission is to mentor and equip high school students with the concepts, knowledge, and tools of economics, personal finance, and business to make them capable of making rational decisions for themselves, their families, and their communities.
