Department of Conflict Peace and Development Studies, Tribhuvan University, announces a two day workshop on “Postconflict Peacebuilding Strategies: Issues on Governance and Development in Emerging Democracies” to be held on 19-20 March 2015 in Kathmandu.

Peacebuilding strategies today are not limited to technical aspects of official and unofficial interventions in the war-torn Societies. Rather, it has been adopted as a part of democratization and proactive measure in addressing local challenges in development and achieving durable peace. However, practices on peacebuilding are found to be differing from time to time and context specific. In this scenario, this international workshop will try to galvanize the policies in global sphere and peacebuilding practices in the developing south. The workshop is also expected as a global platform for the diagnosis of challenges to governance in political transitions.

Renowned scholars from various countries will present papers on the given themes: Peacebuilding, Governance and Development. Altogether there will be 10 papers with four keynote speakers from Korea, Nepal, USA and Bangkok. A key note speaker on peacebuilding strategies and challenges to development will be invited for the talk during the inaugural session and following sessions. There will be two parallel sessions each day. We would like to request interested researchers and scholars to submit their abstract which will be reviewed by the peers and selected papers would be notified. The details on the deadlines for Abstract submission, registration and confirmation are given below:
