Tribhuvan University (TU) has decided to implement semester system from this year at Amrit Science Campus, Tri-Chandra College, Patan Multiple Campus and Nepal Law Campus.

This year, TU is going to implement semester system only at science and law stream campuses of Kathmandu Valley.

Though TU had earlier decided to implement semester system in Master level in all constituent campuses of Kathmandu Valley, it has stepped back from its decision after student unions protested against the decision.

Student unions have been claiming that there is no sufficient preparation to implement semester system at TU from this year when the university authority is not even able to properly manage the academic courses under the annual system.

TU also decided to implement semester system from the next year after sufficient preparation.

Ganga Bahadur Thapa, Chief of Student’s welfare Department, informed that TU is going to distribute admission form of annual system in other campuses from coming Friday.

Thapa said that withdrawal from the decision of implementing semester system in all constituent campuses of Kathmandu Valley does not mean that TU cancelled the semester system in colleges. It will implement semester system in all constituent campuses from the next year, he added.

Earlier, TU had decided to implement semester system even at RR campus, Nepal Commerce Campus, Shankardev Campus, Mahendra Ratna Campus, Gramin Aadarsha Campus Chhettrapati, Saraswoti Campus Lainchaur, Pashupati Campus Chabhil and Patan Multiple Campus, Patan.
