Temporary teachers today said they would stage stern protests very soon.

The temporary teachers from various parts of the country had been staging relay hunger strike at Shanti Batika in Ratnapark. However, Kathmandu Metropolitan Police today evicted the agitating teachers from their protest site.

Temporary Teachers’ Central Struggle Committee’s protest had entered its 314th day today. The temporary teachers are demanding implementation of Education Act and formulation of education regulation so that they could acquire permanent status.

Dinesh Thapa, General Secretary, Temporary Teachers’ Central Struggle Committee, said that they were forcefully removed from Shanti Batika and without any prior notice.

“We did not have any prior notice. Nor do we have the concerned authorities addressing our demands,” said Thapa.

He added that they would hold discussion at the central level tomorrow to announce further protests. “Though we stopped our relay hunger strike today, we will take a new decision tomorrow to decide the type of protest we are going to launch,” he added.
