The Supreme Court on Tuesday upheld the decision of the TU Institute of Medicine (IoM) and Nepal Medical Council (NMC) to stop student enrolment to Janaki Medical College.

A division bench of Justices Girish Chandra Lal and Cholendra Shumsher Rana reinforced the decision of the NMC and IoM to bar the Janakpur-based JMC from admitting students.

An IoM faculty board had made the decision on September 10 citing that the college lacked infrastructure and faculties adequate for enrolling MBBS students.

The JMC had challenged the decision at Patan Appellate Court in the third week of September. The court on December 17 quashed the petition and approved the decision of the IoM and the NMC.
