Rampur-based Central Institute for Agriculture and Animal Science (IAAS) has been vandalised by the students and supporters of Agriculture and Forestry University (AFU) on Friday protesting the delay in handing over of IAAS to AFU.

An unidentified group entered into the IAAS office and set the documents and furniture of assistant campus chief on fire.

“Some students and unknown person entered my room asking me to go out and they set my chair and some documents on fire soon after I fled from the scene,” said assistant campus chief Ishwor Chandra Prakash Tiwari through telephone.

According to Tiwari, the group also torched a chair of campus chief Shyam Sundar Panta after barging into his office.

However, Panta is currently in Kathmandu for the running entrance exam of the graduate level students which was postponed after the protest in the campus earlier.

Earlier, all students’ wings and civil society representatives had handed over a memorandum letter to the Prime Minister demanding to hand over the IAAS to AFU.
