The 15th International Maithili Conference is taking place in Rajbiraj, Saptari with the objective of protecting and promoting the Maithili language and culture. The two-day conference will start on January 21, 2018. The conference also aims to promote unity among the Maithili community for furthering their rights. Maithili language scholars and researchers from Nepal and India will be attending the conference. An international women poets' conference will be held on the first day of the conference while a colloquium and cultural programme will be held on the second day. A Declaration would also be issued on the second day of the conference. Linguists, artists and philanthropists will be honoured on the occasion of the conference which is taking place at the special initiation of Maithili language campaigner and educationalist Dr Baidyanath Chaudhary of India.
