Quality of education worsening in Morang schools

Quality of education at community schools across Morang district has degraded with teachers' active involvement in politics. 

As per sources, as many as 227 teachers are currently at the district-level leadership of teachers' unions affiliated to various political parties in Morang.

Nepal Teachers Federation, Morang has a 31-member working committee led by Damodar Sigdel. It has 10 teachers as central representatives, including six from Nepali-Congress-aligned Nepal Teachers' Association and four from CPN-UML aligned Nepal National Teachers' Organisation. The federation of late is preparing to form local level committees as well.

UML-aligned Nepal National Teachers' Organisation separately has a 37-member district working committee. 

According to the organisation's secretary Mahesh Kumar Gautam, the district working committee is due to be expanded to a 42-member body soon. The organisation has five central representatives. 

Likewise, Nepali Congress-aligned teachers' association has an 18-member working committee. “While nine of them are central representatives, eight others are provincial representatives,” said the association's deputy secretary Arabindra Yadav.

CPN-MC-aligned All Nepal Teachers' Organisation has a 39-member working committee, and three central representatives. Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal also has a teachers' organisation aligned to it that has a 25-member working committee. 

Meanwhile, Social Development Minister Jivan Ghimire has pledged action against the teachers who actively involved in politics.
