President Dr Ram Baran Yadav on Thursday stated that education offered to youth today plays a significant role in shaping the future of the country.
At a function organised today at his official residence in Shital Niwas to confer Nepal Bidhyabhusan Award on toppers of Bachelor’s and Master’s levels and PhD holders from different universities in the country and abroad, Yadav said education should get priority as politics and socio-economic condition of the country in the future depend on education offered at present.
“Today’s kids will be politicians tomorrow. If they get proper education, they will be successful and influential politicians who will work hard for socio-economic prosperity of the country,” said President Yadav. He also urged everyone to utilise their knowledge and skills achieved from higher education for nation-building. “I wish that the skills and knowledge learned from higher education will be used for the country at a time when brain drain is a critical problem,” he said. “Eleven per cent children are still deprived of school education though the Millennium Development Goal promises to make all citizens literate by 2015.”
