Pokhara University officials get jobs back, stir called off

Agitating lecturers and officials of Pokhara University called off their protest after the varsity vowed to reinstate them in their positions yesterday.

A meeting of the executive council of the university had decided to dismiss as many as 95 in-service lecturers and six other officials from their posts on September 18. In response the dismissed lecturers and officials had staged a series of protest, which they withdrew yesterday night.

PU Vice-chancellor Professor Khagendra Bhattarai informed all the lecturers, including the officials about their reinstatement at the protest site.

Meanwhile, Yubaraj Tripathi, Chairman of Contract Lecturers’ Association of Pokhara University, informed that they had called off all kinds of protests after the varsity promised to reinstate them in their respective positions.
