Nawalparasi based Oxford College of Engineering and Management, a college affiliated with Pokhara University and running different programs, enrolled 37 students in BE Computer Engineering without getting affiliation from the university.
Recently Pokhara University had published a notice saying that it would not be able to register the name of students who were admitted for the BE Computer Engineering from the College.
The notice further states that the College should take responsibility of future and any other financial issue of the students.
Hari Bahadur Khadka, the PU Planning and Programme Division Chief, confirmed that the College had not registered the programme at the University.
Khadka added that it was illegal to start the classes without completing the whole process. “We have asked the College authorities to furnish details and clarification,” he added. The University has also asked the concerned authorities to take strict action if the college did not obey the instruction.
Expressing anger over the matter, Nepal Students Union has shut down the college till Tuesday.
NSU central worker Gokul Sapkota said that the College collected Rs 150,000 to 200,000 from each student.
Vice-Principal of the College, Tilak Panthi, admitted that the College had started the BE Computer Engineering programme without registering in the University.
