Minister Sharma vows to promote Sanskrit language

RSS: Dang: Education Minister and Pro-chancellor of Nepal Sanskrit University, Dinanath Sharma inaugurated the Silver Jubilee Celebrations of the university amidst a function here on Sunday. In his inaugural statement, Minister Sharma said the Sanskrit language is a rich and resourceful language and it should not be taken in a limited manner.

Minister Sharma also stressed the need for protection and promotion of Sanskrit language, literature and knowledge and expressed his commitment to take initiatives for the preservation and promotion of the Sanskrit scholarship from the State side as well.

He also called on the Nepal Sanskrit University to focus its attention to research-based teaching and learning activities in faculties like ayurveda, yoga and vaastushastra as these are directly related to human life.

Minister of State for Education Lila Bhandari, Minister of State for Culture Sushma Ghimire, CPN-UML secretary Shankar Pokharel and CA members from Dang district were also present in the Silver Jubilee inaugural function.

Vice Chancellor of the university, Shivahari Marahattha said various programmes would be organised for celebrating the Silver Jubilee of the university throughout the year. Although Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai was scheduled to attend the programme, he could not do so due to his poor health condition, informed the programme organisers.

On the occasion, Education Minister Sharma also inaugurated the library and the Silver Jubilee memorial pillar constructed on the premises of the university. Former Vice Chancellors, Registrars and Rectors of the university since its inception were felicitated on the occasion
