Medical Colleges running without approval from Government

More than a dozen medical colleges have been found to be conducted without the approval form Government.Meanwhile many are running without fulfilling the Medical College Criteria set by the Ministry of Health.

Tribhuvan and Kathmandu University have given affiliation to altogether 17 medical Colleges, out of which 10 have been fpund to be running woth the approval from Mnistry of Health. Among seven others, 5 have not renewed it.

One of the renowed medical college thathas not takent he required consent form the Ministry is Dhulikhel Hospital of KU. The Medical College had applied for the registration in the year 2069 B.S. but could not get the approval due to insufficient criteria, according to the Ministry. Similar are the cases of Manipal College of Medical Science, College of Medical Science, Bharatpur, Nepalgunj Medical College, Kathmandu Medical College and Nepal Medical College. The registraion of these colleges have been  filed but not approved due to insufficiency of conditions.

NMC has taken forward the processing od registration only last year on Poush 18.

Gandaki medical college and Nobel Medical College have been found to be the only two medical colleges that have abided by the law and running with fulfilled criteria and timely renewal, says Ministry sources.

More or less similar are the cases of other colleges. Among the TU affiliated, Janaki Medical College, Universal College of Medical Sciences, National Medical College of Birgunj and Academy of Health Science of Nepali Sena are the ones to be running without registration in the Ministry. The Academy of Health Science of Nepali Sena has not even applied for registration.
