MY ALMA MATER(S)
I did my MBBS from Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH). In 1991 I did my MD from Tribhuvan University, Institute of Medicine. I completed PhD from Department of Virology, Institute of Tropical Medicine, Nagasaki University, Japan in 2000 and then finished my Postdoctoral from Thomas Jefferson University Philadelphia, USA in 2001.
I studied Vaccinology, Tropical Medicine and Virology.
MY COLLEGE LIFE
Living in Kathmandu and studying was a new experience to me. I stayed in a hostel and there was no politics in college at that time. I was weak in English and those who were from Kathmandu would bully me about it.
BEST OF COLLEGE LIFE
Besides studies, I was good at sports, especially badminton. When everyone cheered for me during the tournaments, it was fun and exciting. Different activities that I was involved in during college life were some of the best parts of it.
I came to Kathmandu for my further studies, but I did not know what subject to choose. I went to TUTH to fill up the forms to get admission in college. There were subjects like Lab technician, General Medicine and Radiology, and I had to choose one from them. When I was asked to fill in the form, I did not have any idea on what to study. So, I filled up the name of same subject, a person before me had filled in his form . That’s how I got to study medicine.
Each work is difficult at first but with patience and dedication, one can succeed in anything.
WORDS TO HEED
Today’s world is very different from ours where there are unlimited choices while studying. So, you should study the subject of your interest rather than choosing subject under pressure from parents or others.
HOW TO ACE IN COLLEGE
Get involved in all college activities — you will have fun as well as support from your friends. To ace in college you must know how to manage your time to achieve success.
