Maestro Narayan Gopal remembered

Kathmandu, Dec 5 (RSS): Swar Samrat (singing maestro) Narayan Gopal's 27th memorial Day has been marked in the capital city Tuesday. 

Narayan Gopal Music Trust organized a musical programme to mark the Day. 

Narayan Gopal, who was born on Asoj 18, 1996BS, was decorated with the title of Swar Samrat by the government. He has sung hundreds of songs and given music to songs in a similar number. The singing Maestro died on Mangsir 19, 2047BS. 

Of more than 500 songs he sang, 137 were the folk songs, while others the pop song and the modern. His songs and music took the Nepali singing sector to a new height. 
The first song he sang was the one with the joint compose of guru Manik Ratna and singer Prem Dhwoj Pradhan. 

Born in a Newar community, Narayan Gopal became the Manager of Rastriya Nachghar and Managing Director of the Cultural Corporation. 

Songs like 'Bichhodko Pida', 'A Kanchha Thattaima Yo Baisa Jana Lagyo' are the top one that earned good repute to him. 

During a programme organized Tuesday, Kathmandu Metropolis Mayor Bidya Sundar Shakya honoured senior musician and singer CK Rasaili with the Narayan Gopal Memorial Award. The Award carried a purse of Rs 25,000 and letter of certificate. 

Musicians Ratna Shumsher Thapa, Nagendra Thapa, Kali Prasad Rijal, Kiran Kharel, Madhav Prasad Ghimire, Bhairav Nath Rimal Kadam, Kanchan Pudashaini, Durga Lal Shrestha, Chetan Karki, Man Bahadur Mukhiya and Yadav Kharel were also honoured as distinguished musicians. 

On the occasion, Rastrakavi Ghimire remembered Maestro Narayan Gopal as a consummate singer. 
Various singers performed the songs of the Maestro at the programme.
