Dhulikhel, Jan 3 (RSS): Students from the University of Hong Kong have been volunteering at the Dapcha Secondary School at Namobuddha Municipality-8, Kavrepalanchok district under the banner of Service Trip to Nepal.
Twenty three students of the University arrived here on December 29 for this purpose. They will volunteer at the school until January 4.
"The students who have come here from Hong Kong have been carrying out cleaning, painting the desks and benches and even teaching classes at the school," school head teacher, Dinesh Prasad Adhikari, said.
The students have said that they have come here to learn about Nepal's education system and the similarities and differences between Nepal and Hong Kong.
They will be spending seven days in the local community. They even distributed warm clothes and educational materials to the students at the school. The university students are also learning the Nepali language. They have also carried out cleaning at various temples and shrines around Dapcha, besides lending a hand to the earthquake victims in reconstruction of their houses by carrying bricks and other construction materials.
The students from the University of Hong Kong have been coming to Nepal for volunteering works through an organisation called Inspire Exchange Nepal since the last five years.
The team of volunteers will return back home on Saturday.
