Pokhara, 15:Education Minister Gopalman Shrestha said the government was preparing to scrap the quota for temporary teachers' posts forever.

He also said the existing temporary teachers would be provided with options either to sit for examinations for permanency or accept golden handshake scheme, by amending the Education regulations.
The minister was speaking at a programme organised for the district working committee, and federal and provincial representatives elected from the 8th Convention of the Nepal Teachers Association, Kaski.
The programme was held to mark the elected representatives' assumption of their posts.

"This is a golden opportunity for long serving teachers, who will be provided with both options-- attending examinations, or accepting golden handshake scheme," he said.
Likewise, other speakers like Chairperson of the Nepal Teachers' Association, Kaski Shiromani Lamichhane, Vice Chairperson of the Nepal Women's Association, Dalda Devi Bhujel and coordinator of the election presidium, Chinta Mani Sharma, stressed the need for all concerned authority to be mindful of improving education quality at the community schools.
