​Govt Declared Public Holiday on the Eve of Presidential Visit

Update 17th April, 2017: Amid wide criticism, government of Nepal backtracked its decision of announcing Public Holiday on Friday, when President of Nepal is returning home. Too much public criticism in the social sites compelled government to cancel the public holiday scheduled for Friday.

Earlier the government had decided to give a public holiday on Monday and Friday .

President Bidya Devi Bhandari is embarking on her five-day state visit to India on 17th April, 2017.

The meeting of the council of Ministers on Sunday has decided to approve the five-day state visit of President Bhandari. President Bhandari is embarking on her maiden state visit to any foreign in the capacity of the Head of the State of Nepal.

Likewise, the government has declared public holiday on Monday and Friday citing the reason of the state visit of the President to India.

Giving the information about the cabinet decision, Law Minister Ajay Shankar Nayak said,” The government has announced the public holiday on Monday and Friday- the departure day and arrival day of President Bidhya Devi Bhandari for her state visit to India.”
