Discussion on medical education bill postponed as lawmakers demand time for study

Kathmandu, Aug. 10: After the lawmakers demanded additional time to study on the bill presented at the Parliamentary Committee on Women, Children, Senior Citizens and Social Welfare, the discussion on the bill has been postponed. 
The full meeting of the Committee on Thursday could not endorse the bill as lawmakers voiced for the study on the bill which was brought with amendment by the taskforce relating to national medical education bill-2073. 
The taskforce made the amendment that the medical colleges which have begun hospital being equipped with infrastructures would be provided affiliation.  However, agitating Dr Govind KC has been insisting on not providing affiliation to the new medical colleges at least for ten years in the Kathmandu Valley.  The taskforce has further added that government would run a public teaching hospital at every province, informed taskforce member Jivan Pariyar. 


Dr KC's health deteriorating
