Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) is set to extend the technical training period for courses in cooking, welding, carpentry and plumbing to one year.
The CTEVT held an interactive program on professional course development and operation on 28th March 2017. In the program CTEVT Member Secretary, Ramesh Bakhati said the modification process of the existing course period of three months or 390 hours has started and the courses will be extended to 1600 hours or a year.
The Council will now be augmenting the existing course period due to ineffectiveness of the short period training.
Member Secretary Bakhati added that the Council was mulling over providing a special scholarship scheme targeting the 280 endangered communities including the Chepang community.
As part of the scheme, the selected students will be provided food, lodging and other facilities including Rs 3500 in economic assistance on a monthly basis.
