Kathmandu: College Readers magazine will have its fourth Essay & Speech Competition held in Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu during Kantipur HISSAN Edu-fair in collaboration with HISSAN and its educational institutions.
College Readers CEO Jeetendra Ghimire maintains, “We have been organizing such competitions amid SEE appeared students, and students of plus two and colleges for the past four years in coordination of HISSAN”. We are striving to provide a platform to the SEE appeared students so that they can ameliorate their writing and speaking skills that would create a milestone while pursuing their higher studies. We aim to become a facilitator for students from all over Nepal and assure them that such programs bestow an opportunity on them in which they expose their talents and usher their skills. Moreover, Ram Hari Silwal, HISSAN secretary also says that this event will enable participants to bring their analytical and intellectual skills on the limelight as well as ignite their confidence level. “We are trying to focus on identifying and promoting their expertise and recognizing their efforts”, says Mr. Silwal.
The first Essay and Speech Competition was held in Kathmandu, second in Pokhara and Butwal simultaneously and third in Kathmandu. This year, the fourth competition is going to be held in Bhrikutimandap commensurately with Kantipur HISSAN Edu Fair, which is the largest educational fair in Nepal. “The winners will get a range of scholarships to study in plus two level or A-Level along with trophies, certificates, gift hampers and robust cash prizes”, says the organizer of the competition. Registration forms are available for contestants. Interested SEE appeared students will be eligible to take part in the competition.
Essay Writing Competition is open to an individual (SEE appeared students) of any gender. The topic will be given in an advance so that they can prepare accordingly. The word limit of the essay should not exceed 600 words and the time allotted is one hour. The medium of essay writing is English.
Speech Competition is for individual participation and anyone (SEE appeared) can take part in this competition. The topic will be given in advance at the time of registration and the students can prepare on any topic. The participant shall be given three minutes to speak with no midway interruption. A warning bell shall ring after 2 min 30 seconds. The elocutors may have their speech delivered either in English or Nepali.
